There are a few ways to describe ONMAE, but the ones that usually stick are ‘startup boutique’, ‘startup atelier’ and ‘startup kōbō’. (Kōbō, simplified to kobo, is the Japanese word for ‘workshop’)

These terms appropriately reflect what we do at ONMAE.

ONMAE is

Pre-Incubation

As a pre-incubator, ONMAE does the best part of what you’d find in a regular incubation program: connections, business development, legal advice, management of partnerships and more.

The main difference is that, since we focus on the stage prior to Incubation, we are free to explore ideas, models and solutions with you before presenting the business as a complete startup ready to jump into the market.

Once the startup is ready to take over the market, we take this to the next stage, and either incubate it further in-house or bring it to global incubators and accelerators.
